    Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that blocks the effects of angiotensin II, a hormone that causes blood vessels to constrict and increase blood pressure. It works by relaxing blood vessels, lowering blood pressure, and improving blood flow to the heart and other organs. In addition to its antihypertensive effects, telmisartan has been studied for its potential role in other areas such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and cancer, with promising results.
    It has been shown to reduce the incidence of cardiovascular events such as heart attacks and strokes in high-risk patients, and to improve insulin sensitivity and lower blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes.
